Ford Econoline Extended Warranty

Now that you are looking at a Ford Econoline Extended Warranty, you need to review the best type and fit. Why? The basic reason is that you need to purchase a warranty or additional coverage plan that gives you what you need and not something that is going to give you a big bad surprise when you try and collect on a much needed repair.

There are many things to consider about buying an extra coverage plan over and above the one that is given to you by the manfacturer. One of the first things to be aware of is that you need to do your purchasing before this original warranty expires. Better to be protected before things go bad than to have to pay for repair bills you could have more esaily avoided. The second thing is that you need to know exactly what the extended warranty coverage says in detial. This means that you just don't take at face value what is said and stated about the coverage from a slick marketing blurb that you find almost everywhere. What you need to do is get the entire contract in your hands and take it home with you to read thoroughly. The reason is that you don't want to be pressured into buying something you haven't read in its entireity, nor do you want to make a hasty decision before you fully understand each and every clause.

After you have the contract in hand and are at home, read it over and think of any situations that might arise that you don't see explained in the wording. For example, do you see anywhere that stipulates the difference between 'wear and tear' coverage, or something referred to as 'mechanical breakdown'. If you don't know the difference, let me say that this is the biggest mistake you can make. Some people have believed they have been covered only to find that the repair has been labeled 'wear and tear' and find this is not covered. Make sure you get what you think you are getting and not just what someone says to you verbally.

In a closer review, you also want to ensure that the extended warranty coverage provided is done so by a company that has been around for a good while and is not just a fly by night company that will disappear on you with no avenue to get a refund of any kind. You need to know that this company has a reputation for following through on claims, and pays when they should.

The coverage in plans must be suited to your utilization. This means that don't expect to get coverage if you use your vehicle as a taxi unless the coverage specifically says that this type of use is covered. You also need to be aware that some plans will probably expect normal maintenance to be preformed so don't assume you can now just forget about changing your oil, or doing routine maintenance that helps reduce future problems.

Years ago, my father had a Ford Econoline van and used it as his main mode of transportation. It wasn't used as a delivery van or anything like that. He just wanted a van that he could carry what he needed for occassional road trips much like you would use a camper van. He loved it. And, even though it did require some repairs over time, he used it for over 10 years without any major problems. One thing he did say, however, is he wished he had an extended warranty, but, when he owned it, this coverage wasn't even a thought because the Internet wasn't in existence as we know it today. That brings me to another point. Use the Internet to reserach different plans. It's a great way to start to get to know what is available, and a great way to avoid paying a middleman for the same kind of coverage that when bought direct could save you a lot of money.
