Chevy Cobalt Extended WarrantyOne of the things that some people may wish to consider after purchasing a chevy cobalt is an extended warranty. This is not to suggest in any way that new car original warranties are not good, it is only a consideration that helps keep your car up to specs and will, in the long run, save you from unneccessary car repair bills.

The Chevrolet Cobalt is a compact car first introduced by Chevrolet in 2004 for the 2005 model year. The Cobalt was the car that replaced the Cavalier and the Prizm as Chevrolet's compact car. It is available as both a coupe and sedan depending on what your preference is or use for this car, and is based on the GM delta platform. Also available for this kind of car is a high performance, Super Sport variant. All Cobalts are currently manufactured at GM's Lordstown Assembly plant in Lordstown, Ohio. The United States Environmental Protection Agency classifies the Cobalt as a subcompact car. Starting in 2009, Chevrolet is reported to be launching the Cobalt's global successor the Chevrolet Cruze. The Cruze will be built in multiple locations around the world including the Lordstown Assembly, and this car will be built at the same time as the Cruze until such time apparently as the the Cobalt will be phased out. This would also be a good time to consider whether you will need an extended warranty for your Cobalt depending on whether you are intending to keep this vehicle for a long time.If you are looking for a car that gets better gas mileage since that is the way to go for most people today, the cobalt is a good vehicle getting a reported 37 mpg Hwy, and 25 mpg for city driving. When gas prices are are the up swing, then this is a good choice. Not only that, but when you are spending a lot of time communting, this car will save you a little more than those full size vehicles. And, if you are the only one driving to work, you have to ask yourself whether you are being a bit foolish if you are driving a larger car that gets poor gas mileage in the city. There are options to that bigger car and bigger is not necessarily the best way to go now. If you need a larger car, then you can consider a lot of other possibilities with as many options and powertrain selections available. However, every time you choose to go bigger just recognize that some things are going to suffer. One of these is gas mileage, and you may be paying more for your insurance depending on where you live you could be paying more for size and cost of the original vehicle. Your other choice, of course, is to look at used cars of this type and then if you find a good one take a serious look at what you can purchase for additional drivetrain protection.
